Allowing people to believe my psi abilities were the result of the NDE made my life simpler.
I quickly saw latching onto it as an explanation for the abilities made people more comfortable with the idea.
But it wasn’t the truth.
For whatever reason, the summer before first grade was the launch point.
Long before I’d heard the term psychic.
Do You Know Like I Know? We were at my grandmother’s for dinner. A bunch of us were in the kitchen talking about how no one had seen a young family member in some time. The phone rang and I said, “That’s Mrs. B. She’s going to tell you he is at her house.”
My grandmother answered the phone, had a brief conversation then hung up, after which she confirmed everything I’d said.
I distinctly remember the entire room going silent as everyone turned to stare at me.
My grandmother asked how I knew who was on the phone and what she would say. I shrugged and said, “I don’t know. I just knew.”
At this point she looked at my mom and said, “She’s one of us,” referring to the fact that several family members, including my grandmother, had psi abilities.
Do You See Like I See? It was that summer that my psychic eyes were opened. Not only did I see two distinctly different apparitions, I saw that the objects around us are not what they seem.
It was a Saturday and I was dusting an end table in the living room. I had to use a Q-tip dipped in lemon oil and go over every little crevice. As I was leaning down I noticed movement. Curious, I focused on the wood grain to see if I could figure out what was going on. I saw that it was not made up of anything solid but rather a bunch of small cells moving rapidly, jiggling against one another. They were packed tightly together which is what gave the table its form.
The density gave the illusion it was solid.
I immediately went to tell my dad who was doing an oil change. He had me talk with his dad who was a EE. My grandfather came over shortly thereafter. I tried showing him but he couldn’t see like I did. He did, however, go on to assure everyone there was no cause for alarm.
Even as he advised me not to talk about it at school.
Years later, I learned what I saw is what’s visible through high-powered electron microscopes. It’s the world of quantum physics.
